PONCHOS AKA BLANKET TO GO

I've been on a hunt for a good poncho in the past weeks because those things really got me. Ponchos are a nice combination of a blanket and a sweater just like oversized sweaters and huge cardigans and they are a good way to feel like you're still in bed even though you're at school or at work.
When wearing a poncho I like it to be the center of attention so I keep the rest of the outfit pretty simple by creating a monochrome outfit where the poncho stands out with either its color or fabric. I like to pair ponchos with all black outfits because - let's be honest - when do I ever wear a different color in fall and winter.

I only own one poncho right now but I'm definitely planning on getting more soon. Mine looks very similar to the one in the second outfit. The first time I wore it on my flight back home. I paired it with a pair of simple black see through leggins from Victoria's Secret and some ankle booties and I kind of recreated the look in the middle of the outfits below. I wore it because I knew I'd be spending several hours at uncomfortable places and I at least needed a comfy outfit. Even though it gets really cold in fall where I live I only wore a white T-Shirt underneath because the material of the poncho kept me warm enough.

Amanda Steele aka makeupbymandy24 is a sixteen year-old Youtuber with more than two and a half million subscribers on her main channel. She is a beauty and fashion guru with a bomb fashion sense. I took it to polyvore to create some outfits that I either saw her wear in a video or some Instagram photo or just think she would wear something similar to them.
I see her wearing a lot of black and white and she seems to like Jeans but - let's be honest - who doesn't. I love how she pairs simple basics and makes them seem less basic. The first four outfits are from a video and from her Instagram photos she posted a little while ago so I'm pretty sure this is what she wears. I got my inspiration from other Youtubers or Instagramers in addition to her Amanda's own style for the other four outfits..
She developed her style a lot in even the past year and I'm honestly all about it.

GET HIGHER (BOOTS)

Over-knee boots are the trend this year. I see them everywhere and it's like telling me that they're the missing piece to my fall/winter 15 closet. There are so many to choose from, though. There are so many styles of boots - even styles of heels that show a whole other side of you. I've always liked the chunky boot simply because they're easier to walk in and still look good. I don't always like stilettos just because I haven't learned to walk in them properly yet. I feel like over-knee boots are a really nice touch to a simple outfit. They make outfits a lot more fashionable in an easy way. If you pair them the right way they'll make you look very classy and - if you're younger than 20 - older.

I definitely prefer heeled boots and I don't even know why. I just love the look of it. The classic over-knee boots from Stuart Weitzman (which are not featured below by the way) look amazing though. I don't know what it is about them, maybe it's just the hype but the way I've seen them being styled kind of makes me want them but the heel is still kind of necessary to me.
Below are a few types of over-knee boots that I like. Different heels, textures and designs but the same kind-of style in all of them. What I like about them is that they're all tight-fitting around the leg.

The pair of boots I'll most likely get is the pair with the outfit on the left. They're classics and you can pair them a lot of different ways. The boots in the middle are obviously classic too but if I want to wear them to school too, I'm not going to get a small heel.

The boots to the outfit on the right are amazing. I love the pattern and the golden heel - sadly they cost more than $5 000. Of course there are much cheaper pairs of over-knee boots yet none of them caught me the way they did. Since I'm not going to pay that much for a pair of boots, they're going to remain a dream of mine. That's okay because there are really a lot of other boots that look extremely good and are affordable.
The first store where I spotted over-knee boots was lamoda.co.uk half a year ago but I haven't seen them there last time I checked. The online store I would probably get them from is soleaffair or prettylittlething because the quality is quite good and the prices are nothing to complain about. The pair of over-knee boots I have an eye on only cost £30 which is about $47 and 43€.

This post definitely got longer than I wanted it too but the longer the boot - the longer the post.

DRESSING FOR BACK TO SCHOOL

I love dressing for back to school since outfits are the only thing about school that don't change after summer break. My school doesn't have a dress code so I could go there in sweatpants and a simple tank top and I totally would if I didn't love picking out outfits as much as I do. What I like to to is to keep my outfits casual and comfortable yet a bit fashionable. I don't wear a lot of skirts or dresses so must haves for school are a good pair of jeans that you can pair with anything. Trust me, especially when you have to shop on a low budget simple jeans are needed.
My back to school must haves also include basic t-shirts no matter what color, leggins, an oversized sweater and boots or sneakers that fit your whole closet so you won't have to get a lot of shoes to match your clothes.

The four outfits below are all really comfortable in my opinion especially if you're like me and don't wear a bra most of the time. I'm actually surprised that I managed to create one outfit that doesn't include a black item because I barely wore any other color to school last year.

SJP TECHNIQUE

A recent blog post by Morgan Demeola inspired me to create these outfits. She wrote about the SJP technique where you can wear the same top and bottom with different shoes, jackets and purses to make it suitable for different occasions. Even though I feel like all three of these outfits could be worn to the same occasions they all still have different personalities. The outfit on the left is an edgy chic outfit which I'd probably wear when I'm going out with my friends. The middle outfit has a grunge touch and it's an outfit I'd wear to school. The one on the right is more chic because of the faux fur jacket and the style of the boots and I feel like its a night kind of outfit. 

I love all of these because they're almost all black and every pair of shoes is a pair of boots and I'm really into both. Also, the SJP technique allows me to wear my favorite color and clothing pieces, a black tee and black skinnies, to any occasion and also to make me come across in different ways even though I'm still wearing the same basics.

FAVE SUMMER SHOE STYLES

I fell in love with sandals this summer which is weird because I never liked them a lot. Maybe because I discovered different online shoe stores that have the cutest sandals and shoes in general. For example lamoda.co.uk, publicdesire, soleaffair but even clothing websites like forever21, topshop or urbanoutfitters have the best summer shoes and are also pretty affordable. Some shoes can be found in several online stores for different prices but the stores I listed don't have any huge price differences.

I still like black as a color for clothing even though it's summer because it matches everything. I thought I'd give it up this summer season but I just couldn't help myself  when I got a pair of black heeled sandals from sole affair Even though I'm still in love with black I also like white a lot more than I thought I ever would and I'm planning on bringing it in my closet more. Also: nude! Nude is such a big thing right now and I'm loving it. I'm kind of disappointed though because nude is supposed to be the color of your skin no matter what color your skin is but is mostly a light brown/beige color and never dark. I'm not dark skinned myself but I think that's stupid.
Back to the topic. Below are a few types of sandals that I really like. All of them either have straps, cut outs or laces because that's what it's all about this year. I've seen so so many heels where the front is all tied up and I like it because it is sexy and classy at the same time.

HOW TO STYLE ROMPERS

Rompers are a cool thing because they're basically a whole outfit, right? Almost. For me, a whole outfit also includes a good pair of shoes, a purse and maybe jewelry - it does not only consist of top and bottom. A romper takes away the difficulty to pair bottom and top to look great just like a dress does but adds a playful taste to it through the shorts part. Some basically look like dresses but you can move around more freely because of the attached shorts. The outfits below are for any warm season because they're short and are made of light flowy fabric. All of the outfits are more on the chic side because of the ruffles, jewelry and heels.

The outfit on the left is a little bit edgy because of the color scheme, choker and boots. The jewelry of the outfit on the right makes it seem bohemian which I really like.

BALENCIAGA CEINTURE ANKLE BOOTS

Ever since I spotted them on tumblr a few months ago they were my absolute boot goals. I love the buckles and cut outs of them and the fact that they're shiny and black. It's a classic shoe that can be worn to any kind of clothing  Since it's summer there's a little bit of time left until fall. In this time I made it my challenge to find the absolute best dupe or similar boots. I would say that I succeeded since I found three pairs of boots similar to the Balenciaga Ceinture Ankle Boots. The first pair is the one I'd choose because it is the most similar lookalike out of the three. The last one is obviously not the same color but I still like it because it also has the buckles and cut outs like the others.

The outfits I created around the boots are somewhat inspired by ones I saw on different social media. I'm pretty sure that you can replace the Balenciaga Ceinture Ankle Boots in the outfits by almost any other pair of black boots.

ONE SHOE THREE WAYS

I never really was the sandals type of person but heeled sandals are my love. The style of the Topshop sandals is pretty casual but I like the kinf of metallic print on the straps. This shoe or similar styles can be worn many different ways to any occasion. I created three casual comfortable outfits for hot and cold summer days. I love high waisted jeans because they're extremely comfortable and look hella cute. The distressed boyfriend jeans style is worn a lot in the past time and it looks soo good but pants that are too baggy don't suit me at all. I'm more of the mom jeans kind of person because they're not as oversized as boyfriend jeans are. Crop tops are also an all time fave because they show off one of my favorite body parts which is my waist.

STREET STYLE

Street style is so easy but it can also look fashionable. It is an easy way to be chic but also casual merely by making small changes. 

I love it because whatever you have in your closet you can always spice it up by adding some statement pieces. That can be a jacket, shoes or a pair of pants that stand out and pimp the outfit. Street style fashion icons for me are Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid, Lauren Giraldo, Alexa Losey, Acacia Brinley, Amanda Steele - I could go on forever. Those are people that inspire my everyday wear and my lifestyle because fashion is how you show yourself to others. It affects your confidence and the way others treat you because of how you look. Maybe it's sad that people are so concentrated on looks but I take it as a challenge and try to express myself as much as possible through my everyday wear. Here are some outfits that I really like as seen on Gigi and Bella Hadid. Gigi spices up her simple outfits by adding a statement jacket (first outfit), jewelry (second outfit) or even only Chelsea boots (third outfit). Believe it or not - wearing Chelsea boots instead of sneakers can make such a difference! You can modify your closet by getting one piece of clothing that's kind of special and not basic.

THE TREND: SNEAKERS

Sneakers are a big trend and always have been. Shoes from Converse, Adidas or Nike are timeless and have been worn nonstop since they've been invented

but the trend came back big last fall and it's staying for even longer. I thought that they would get less popular now since they've been around for so long and were a huge trend earlier this year but I was wrong and I'm pretty happy about it. I especially love slip on shoes because they're so easy and comfortable but trendy and they don't look as lazy as they actually are. They can spice up any outfit and are available in almost every color and pattern, even in espadrilles style. I currently only own one pair which is a silver glittery pair with a white bottom but I plan on getting more. I've seen metallic espadrilles slip ons and also some with leopard fur which are a lot of fun to style! You can wear the shoes as an accessory or as the star of the outfit and either way it will look bomb.

LAMODA X FESTIVAL

I love the festival season so much simply because of the fashion. I sadly won't go to any festivals this year but I'm taking them home through music and fashion. I feel like lamoda has the best shoes and accessories for any kind of festival outfit.

The simple combination of patterned flared pants and a plain crop top with some bomb lace up heels can make a hella cute outfit. I pared them with a pair of Quay sunglasses because they are one of the best brands for sunglasses in my opinion and they can pimp any basic outfit. A bag matching to the shoes is always a must for me so I chose a fringe bag in the same color as the laced up heels.

I love this outfit because it is comfortable and you can change it up by choosing different accessories or a different pattern for the pants. What I do a lot with nearly all of my outfits is having the whole outfit in one color and only one piece in a different color, I just love setting an course. This summer is going to be more colorful though because that's what summer is about. I love simplicity but a pop of color never hurt nobody.

STYLING LEATHER SKIRTS

I never liked leather skirts because I didn't really know how to style them. Leather skirts are a statement clothing piece no matter what style it is or if it's smooth leather or suede.

Both looks on the left are a little more fancy but the one on the far left is a look I'd totally wear when I'm out with the girls. The outfit on the right is a casual chic look which could be really worn at almost every occasion. You could also pair it with some sneakers like white Nike Air Force 1 low, white Adidas Superstars or even some easy slip on sneakers in the same color as the skirt.

DENIM ON DENIM

I'm loving denim on denim outfits lately and Kylie Jenner's outfit from about 11 weeks ago inspired me to create these outfits. The one on the left is the most similar to the one Kylie Jenner wore. The skirt is really similar to hers and the shirt is a basic denim shirt with a knot in the front, paired with some black booties. I don't know where she got her shoulder bag but it is similar to the one I found only that hers is made out of what I believe is fur. I added the Fendi accessory because you can see Kylie 'wearing' it a lot. The second outfit is kind of inspired by Kylie Jenner and I could imagine her wearing it because she owns similar pieces. The third one is completely out of my imagination but I'd totally wear it on a chill summer day. I chose the Cartier bangle bracelets because they're Kylie's statement arm candy.

I also added photos of Kim Kardashian and Rihanna rocking the denim skirt and shirt look.
